Halloween Parade Recap

Thanks to all who came out to our annual Halloween Parade. We
had lots of families, children and dogs dressed up in creative
outfits that “wowed” the judges! A big thank you to Dennis
Hagerty, our talented MC; the students of the San Marin
High School Leadership Class & California Scholastic
Federation Club for helping before, during and after the
parade; the local Novato Firefighters and Novato Police
who led the parade; Councilmember Carol Dillon-Knutson
who handed out ribbons; and all the SMIA volunteers who
make this old fashion parade happen every year! See the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbiMsbWta_E

Santa is Coming ~ Saturday December 19th – 9am

Ho Ho Ho… Guess who is coming to San Marin once again on his
famous horse & carriage…. Santa!! Oh, and don’t forget his loyal
elf who hands out candy canes and helps children on and off the
carriage. Santa & elf will be trotting by carriage through our
neighborhood on Saturday, December 19th from 9am-
12.30pm. Children who wave to Santa from the sidewalk will
be able to sit on his lap and express their wishes and maybe even
get a candy cane! If you are unable to find Santa in the
neighborhood, then head on over to the Meridian Rolling
Hills Club at 11.30 where Santa will end his journey. The
Club will provide cookies and cocoa for all the patient children.
In addition, the fabulous San Marin Choir will keep everyone
entertained with their wonderful caroling. Santa must head back
to the North Pole at 12.30pm. Don’t miss out on the holiday
spirit!
Santa will begin his journey from Novato Blvd. down San Miguel
Way, turn onto Feliz Dr., then left on San Luis. He will then take
a left on San Carlos and head west to Clemente Ct., where he will
make his rounds. He will then head back onto San Carlos, and
eventually turn right on San Ramon Dr. He will then head
towards Rolling Hills Club.
See you on the 19th! (Heavy rain cancels.)

Luminaries are Here! 10 Luminaries for $8.00

Scout Troop 42 will be delivering Luminaries on December 12th
for us to light up the sidewalks outside our homes on Christmas
Eve. This wonderful annual tradition is unique to Novato and is
particularly special to our San Marin community. Troop 42
began to provide Luminaries in San Marin 45 years ago to fund
Troop programs and traditions. Troop 42 performs many
community service projects including improving our local hiking
trails, bridge repair, tree planting, construction of benches and
woodsheds, graffiti removal, and cleaning debris from our
creeks, etc. Please join with your neighbors in supporting the
Scouts by purchasing flats of Luminaries for $8.00. There are
ten Luminaries in each flat. Order forms have been delivered
already. If you didn't receive one, or have misplaced yours, you
can call 415-892-5718 or email: luminarias@novato-troop42.org.
The downloadable order form is at www.novato-troop42.org.

Help your Neighborhood

It takes a lot of volunteer time to run SMIA. All of the board members are unpaid volunteers.

The same core people have been doing most of the work for the last ten years or so. We would really like some help.

Everything from running this site to the mailings to the Easter Egg Hunt, BBQ and other events rely completely on volunteers. If you would like to get involved, let us know. Do you have accounting skills? Like to do non-profit tax returns? Like attending meetings? Email us and we will find some way to put you to work. Email us at smiamail@gmail.com and tell us you are interested in becoming a volunteer.

Thanks in advance! tell a friend!
